Book Review: Finding Her Forever Family by Traci Douglass

RATING: 4 out of 5 Stars

FINDING HER FOREVER FAMILY by Traci Douglass is a Harlequin contemporary medical romance set in the same Alaskan hospital as this author’s previous medical romance, One Night with the Army Doc. This is an extremely emotional romance with an O.B. doctor, single dad and an E.R. trauma nurse with the unresolved fear of a hereditary disease hanging over her head.

Wendy Smith is an exceptional trauma nurse in the E.R. Even though she faces other people’s traumas every day, she is still unwilling to face the results of her test for the hereditary Huntington’s mutation. She watched her vibrant mother die at a young age and refuses to risk passing the disease on so she has built a wall around her heart and never becomes involved in relationships for more than one night stands.

Dr. Tom Faber is the O.B. doctor on call when Wendy’s sister-in-law delivers her twins. Besides long hours at the hospital, Tom has recently received custody of his twelve year old daughter after the death of his ex-wife. They are both struggling to connect. When he finds out Wendy has been helping with his daughter’s counseling and has a connection with her, he asks for her help without violating their privacy. Wendy agrees to help knowing how hard it is to lose a parent at that age.

Wendy and Tom are instantly attracted to each other and each have reasons to take it slower, but they just cannot stay away from each other. Wendy wants to help this perfectionist doctor learn to accept that not everything can be planned and perfect, especially in his relationship with his daughter. Tom wants to help Wendy face her fear of her test results and have a real relationship with her. Will they be able to move forward past their individual fears and come together as a family?

I found Wendy and Tom’s romance well written, but too short. I feel the issues they were both dealing with deserved a more in-depth story. This author did a very good job though of taking several heavy issues and fitting them into this shorter format. The sex scenes are explicit, but short and not gratuitous. This is an easy-to-read, heartwarming story with interesting characters that keeps you emotionally involved throughout.

Book Review: How to Seduce a Bad Boy by Traci Douglass

RATING: 4 out of 5 Stars

HOW TO SEDUCE A BAD BOY by Traci Douglass is a contemporary romance with an entertaining heroine who wants major life changes by her 25th birthday and a bad boy hero home from the service.

Melody Bryant loves being a librarian in her hometown, but she wants to break out of the stereotype. Her 25th birthday is in a few weeks and she has decided it is time for a makeover, which also includes her personal life. She has only every loved one bad boy who is her brother’s best friend. Before he left for the Army eight years ago, she offered him her virginity and was turned down. Now she has plans to get rid of her virginity and seduce the bad boy.

Adam Foster has always had a bad reputation in his hometown. He was abandoned by his mother and his father was a drunk. Lucky for him he made a friend who saw past his family and befriended him as a brother. He was entranced by his friend’s little sister and was always protective. After eight years, he is home and building up the car repair shop he and his friends always dreamed of owning. When Melody comes to him and asks for his help with men, what else can he do but agree to date her himself to protect his friend’s little sister once again.

Melody has five weeks before her birthday to lose her virginity and get the bad boy she has always loved.

I really enjoyed Melody and her journey of change. I cheered for her to finally get her man. Adam was a not-so bad boy whose protectiveness of Melody made him endearing, but I would have preferred much less inner dialogue on how he was not good enough for Melody. The plot is not new and had no new twists, but it was fun to watch this relationship develop. The chemistry between these two was well written without explicit sex scenes. An entertaining romance read that has secondary characters with the potential for future spin-off books.

Book Review: One Night With The Army Doc by Traci Douglass

RATING: 5 out of 5 Stars

ONE NIGHT WITH THE ARMY DOC by Traci Douglass is a medical contemporary romance which thoroughly entertains and leaves you with that HEA glow. It is easy to read with a hunky hero and a socially awkward, but brilliant heroine. Being set in Alaska also gives the story a unique background flavor.

Dr. Molly Flynn is a brilliant diagnostician with her own medical TV show. Her latest episode is based on a case in Alaska. She is excited to get away from the high expectations of her family and the recent breakup of her relationship by text. While Molly may have a brilliant mind, her social skills are not as well developed. For her show the camera is always following, but the patient’s best friend is the head of the ER and refuses any on-camera time. There is an instant friction between the two doctors, but as they work together that friction starts to lead to understanding and attraction.

Dr. Jacob Ryder is the head of the ER, an ex-army doctor decorated for valor and extremely media shy. He was burned by an ex, who left him for a high profile media job, so he throws himself into his work. Molly is brilliant, but he does not see eye to eye on some of her choices for treatment. As they work together, Jake begins to see the real Molly and begins to like and respect her uniqueness and quirks.

Both know their time together is limited. As their feelings grow, can Molly believe that Jake really sees and likes the real person inside? Can Jake trust another woman who is in the media spotlight and not get burned?

Molly and Jake are an H/h duo that will go straight to your heart. They have survived so much and managed to thrive separately, but you know they would be great together. The romance is wrapped around a medical mystery that is easily understood and very intriguing. The scenery and attractions described by the author in Alaska, add to the story without taking over. The romance grows at a realistic, but time limited pace and the sexual interactions were hot. I found this to be a romance that you will want to read in one sitting, because you will not want to put it down. I loved Molly and Jake and I know you will, too.
